Rules & Scoring

You can enter the competition & make changes to existing squads any time up until 30th September 2005. You may decide to get this done before the 'big kick-off ' or wait a little to see how the new arrivals etc. shape up, it's entirely your choice. Obviously, the longer you delay entering then the longer the delay in accumulating points, but we are allowing entries up to the end of September in the knowledge that this competition will have a bit more of 'an edge' to it, being, in the main, for people local to the area. Therefore the deadline date allows for those friends, family & work colleagues that do not hear about the competition until much later, whilst they may not win our top prize, they may still have all the fun of competing against each other.

There are no rules limiting your spending power or how many players you may have from any one team in your squad, providing you do not exceed the maximum squad size of '25'.

There will be a transfer window throughout the whole of January, just as it is in reality. You may not exceed the maximum squad limit of 25 though. If you have 25 players already but 3 or 4 are out injured for the rest of the season or dropped for the foreseeable future, then you may wish to replace them. This is fine but they must be dropped out of your squad for the rest of the season first; i.e. to make way for the new signings.

When making your selections, simply 'click' on the player you want & you will be able to see him added to your squad.

Your 'starting eleven' must always have; 1 Goalkeeper, 4 Defenders & either- 3 Midfielders & 3 Strikers - OR - 4 Midfielders & 2 Strikers; depending on whether you are playing a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 formation.

All players quoted in our player lists will be awarded points when they play in Barclays Premiership matches. These points will be awarded out of 10, regardless of whether they play for 1 minute or 90 minutes. Our judgment of their performance shall be final. A player who we regard as the 'man of the match' in each game will be awarded a further 10 points. A goal scored will count as 7 points. A 'hat-trick' scored; i.e. 3 goals scored by same player in same match; will be awarded a further 10 points; i.e. 7+7+7+10= 31; A clean sheet for a Goalkeeper shall count as 10 points & a clean sheet for a Defender shall count as 7 points.

There will be no 'negative' points allocated, for instance, deducting points if a player is booked or sent-off, similarly, no points will be deducted for Goalkeepers or Defenders if a goal / goals are scored against them. If this were the case then to balance it out we would have to deduct points from strikers & midfielders for not scoring a goal / goals - 'wholly unrealistic'.

If a player is credited with scoring a goal initially only to have it re-allocated to another player at a later date, then for the purposes of this competition it will stay with the player initially credited with it.

Whilst scores are being updated, the ability to change / rotate your players will be unavailable; i.e. you will still be able to see your team etc., but the functions will be in "Locked" mode. This "Locked Mode" will begin an hour or so before the first kick-off time of each match day & will be unlocked the following day at aproximately 11am. (see How to Play)
